China develops shopping destination by building a lot of malls. But apparently, there are some who just do not sell mall and devoid of tourists. In the city of Dongguan, was the largest mall in the world that even a 'ghost town'. Hii!
New South China Mall is the largest shopping center or mall world built in the city of Dongguan, China. This mall has an area of 464,515 square meters and can accommodate 2350 stores. Not only that, the New South China Mall also has a two times larger than the largest mall in the United States, the Mall of America.
New South China Mall was built in 2005. Front of the mall is decorated by hundreds of palm trees with a replica of the Arc de Triomphe, the Sphinx, and even some of the gondola. Cafes, canals, and luxurious facilities also adorn the corners of the mall. Unfortunately, the mall is empty of visitors.
"Many shops are empty and at least present the visitor, while expensive store rents. Mall is classified as 'dead malls".
Concern is, because the mall has a wide range of amenities and is even devoid of visitors. In fact, the mall also has played such a rollercoaster ride along the 1814 feet in the middle of the mall area. But this is not enough to invite tourists.
Why can empty mall? The reason, the location of the construction of this mall is wrong. Dongguan is a manufacturing city inhabited by 10 million migrant workers.
"People come here to work in factories and do not have time to shop," said a migrant worker named Xiao who works at the mall.
