A hot air balloon caught fire and exploded while flying over the area of Luxor, the ancient Egyptian famous today. As a result, 19 people were killed tourists.
According to employees of the company that operates the blimp, the tourists come from a number of countries including Japan and the UK. An Egyptian citizen was also killed in the incident.
"It's terrible, really terrible," said an employee who declined to give his name to the news agency AFP on Tuesday (02/26/2013).
"We do not know exactly what happened or what was wrong," he said while crying.
The hot air balloon carrying 21 people. The balloon around the city center Qurna in Luxor when it suddenly caught fire and then exploded. At the event, the blimp was flying over an altitude of 1,000 feet.
Authorities said after the burning and exploding, balloons fell from the sky and hit the cane fields to the west of Luxor. Luxor City is about 320 miles south of Cairo, the Egyptian capital.
The two survivors have been rushed to the hospital. One is Ballons air pilot. no one known how the current conditions.
