Sony sold the building in Tokyo-which is one of those iconic buildings-with a value of approximately U.S. $ 1.2 billion.
25-story building, which was built on a site that is often referred to as the holy land of Sony, is located not far from the headquarters.
It was completed in 2011 to accommodate 5,000 workers at the TV and sound, this building became a place to launch TV types Trinitro.
The buyer is Nippon Building Fund with tenure and the remaining 60% owned by an unnamed investor.
But Sony will still use it for five years.
Need cash
This sale just a month after Sony sold the building in New York that became the headquarters for the United States.
Sony, who are in need of cash to pay its debts, a problem with the strengthening of the yen before and after the financial crisis of 2008.
Problems strengthening yen has also faced by other Japanese electronics industry, such as Panasonic and Sharp.
While at the same time there are also powerful new competitors, such as Samsung of South Korea.
However recently the value of the Yen began to weaken and early February of this year Sony reported a loss of about 75% in the period October-December 2012.
